I came unglued

OK

I was in my basement today and went for the Gorilla Super Glue.  My “gut” said I should put on some gloves.  My rushed adult said “don’t need em.”   I applied a dot of super glue and then found it needing a little sticky adhesive so I applied wood glue.  I picked up the tiny decorative piece I was glueing and you guessed it, my index finger and thumb stuck together.  Give yourself the “OK” sign and that’s how my left hand looked.  OMG! No Facebook or Twitter!!

First, DON’T PANIC!!! Of course there was no telephone number on the small tube.  So I casually got online and pecked out google  for “gorilla glue help” and found their website.  I dialed them up and as the lady said “good afternoon” I blurted out HELP ME!!  She told me to get acetone (fingernail polish remover) and warm soapy water.  As I talked to her, I went further in their website and found first aid.  “Don’t panic” said the instructions.  Of course, I WAS NOT GOING TO PANIC!!  I phoned back again. I calmly said “You’ve probably heard this before…but I got my fingers stuck together…I am soaking in acetone as told and warm soapy water.  I need some reassurance.  She gave me their medical toll free number.  I phoned them.  They said “we suggest you don’t use solvents of any kind, including acetone!!”  HELLLOOOOOOOO!!!  Two previous phone calls and a website first aid page said “use acetone.”  She gave me different tips to try.  Use gritty soap…use a dry towel.  All the while I am soaking in acetone.  I thanked her for reassuring me and hung up.  I got liquid soap and hot water and soaked…20 minutes, 30 minutes, and slightly trying to wiggle my fingers.  Call in the prayers!  I prayed for help, and not to be SO STUPID!!.

45 mniutes later I came unglued!  How did I do it?  I googled “super glue help” and read that acetone does indeed disolve the polymers in glue.  So I got a cue tip and soaked it in acetone (with aloe) and kept dipping and rubbing the cue tip across the point of contact.  I “attacked it from all sides.”  I could see some loosening and the light at the end of the tunnel.  When I “broke free” I was overjoyed!!! By this time it was after 5 and that was excuse enough to open the wine and celebrate.  And thankfully just in time for dinner!  My Good Measure Meal would give me all the nutrients I needed to feed my body and brain and make better choices in my life.  And trust me, when you’re working with super glue, wear gloves.
